Definition of Noun
Noun can be defined as: “A word (other than a pronoun) used to identify any of a class of people, places, or things common noun, or to name a particular one of these proper noun.”
In simple words, we can say that noun is a word used as the name of persons, places, things, animals, ideas, or events. Here, the meaning of thing is any object which we can touch, feel, smell, see, hear, taste or something we can think but cannot perceive through our senses.
For example;
- We see Sun and Moon in the sky. (Sun and Moon are noun)
- Lotus is a National flower of India. (lotus and India are noun)
- Varanasi is a holy city located at the bank of River Gange. (Varanasi and Gange are noun)
- Akbar was great king. (Akbar and king are noun)
